(The following was taken from an email I received from Bill Field...ed)
As you know we (Helen & I) have just returned from SINGAPORE and MALAYSIA.
When we were there I enquired at the AUSTRALIAN EMBASSIES in SINGAPORE and KUALA LUMPUR as to what was happening on Vietnam Veterans Day.
KL informed me that they had not been approached by anybody and they would not be doing anything. I was somewhat surprised because there are quite a few veterans, including MAJ Peter BADCOE VC, buried at TERENDAK as you are all well aware.
SINGAPORE, however, had received a request from ADMIRAL HARRINGTON (I think) to lay a wreath at the grave of WO11 K.G. CONWAY, the only Vietnam Veteran buried at KRANJI. Because I was a Vietnam Veteran I was asked if I would lay the wreath. Of course I accepted with honour.
The attached photo was taken on Vietnam Veterans Day at KRANJI in SINGAPORE.
Although the event was to be "low key" I couldn't thank CAPT JERRETT and his staff enough, especially WOFF Keith "Salty" PEPPER, for their invitation and the hospitality provided.
Those in the photo are: CPO John RYAN, WOFF Keith
PEPPER, Bill FIELD, CAPT Mark JERRETT (Defence Adviser), and LCDR David
